The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) thru Listahanan will conduct orientation with officials of Local Government Units (LGUs) in Cagayan Valley in the first quarter of 2014.

The orientation aims to enlighten LGUs on the next family assessment likewise their duties and functions such as to provide the department with municipality spot map, fare matrix, assistance in identifying pockets of poverty in urban areas.

“This is one of the major preparatory steps in the second round of assessment. To be able to do this efficiently and effectively, we need the support of partners, data users particularly the local government units as they are the front-liners in the area,” said Delia Sto. Tomas, Deputy Regional Project Manager (DRPM) of Listahanan.

In addition, the LGUs will also assist enumerators and area supervisors around distant and hard to reach areas, and participate as member of the Local Validation Committee (LVC) which will act on complaints/appeals received on family misclassification.

“As early as now, we at the Regional Household Targeting Unit (RHTU) are really grateful for our partners for showing support to the project. We’ll give our best efforts in carrying out all phases of the project and hope that it will be a success,” Sto. Tomas added.

The second round of assessment will cover 622,659 households in Cagayan Valley and 15.3 million households nationwide. This undertaking will update the LISTAHANAN database currently being used by anti-poverty programs such as Pantawid Pamilya and Philhealth Sponsored Program in identifying potential beneficiaries.
